This is a plain-language policy prepared for the Foundation. It describes what this website actually does, honestly, rather than generic legal boilerplate — but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and should be before it's treated as final.
What we collect, and why
- If you register as a member (membership.php): your name, phone number, and optionally your location, profession, email, payment date and payment reference. This is saved on our server so we can maintain a membership roster, and a copy is sent to us on WhatsApp as an immediate notice.
- If you use RetireBot, our chat assistant: your typed question is sent to a third-party AI service (OpenRouter) if it doesn't match one of our common topics, in order to generate an answer. We do not send your name, phone number or any other identifying detail — only the text you type into the chat box. We do not control how that third-party service itself handles the text it receives; their own privacy terms apply to that processing.
- If you donate or pay by UPI, that transaction happens directly between your UPI app and our bank — we do not see or store your bank details. If you then message us on WhatsApp to confirm a payment or request an 80G receipt, whatever you choose to send us there (your name, PAN, address) is used only for that purpose.
- Browser storage: we use your browser's own local session storage to remember how many questions you've asked RetireBot in one visit, so we can point you to WhatsApp after ten. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
What we don't do
- We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian assist you.
Where your information goes
Membership registrations are stored on our own web server, in a file that is not accessible directly by browser — only through the registration form itself. WhatsApp messages you send us are handled by WhatsApp/Meta under their own privacy terms once they leave our site. We do not have a database of donor bank details, card numbers or UPI credentials — those never pass through our servers.
Your choices
You can use most of this website — reading about our work, browsing Kaleidoscope, viewing the Journey timeline — without giving us any personal information at all. Registering as a member and messaging us on WhatsApp are both entirely optional. If you'd like your membership record corrected or removed, write to us at director@retirementindia.in or WhatsApp +91 95193 62777, and we'll act on it.
